I have a suspicion this will be an ongoing competition, but I submit this as the World’s Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Slightly sweet, cinnamony raisin bread spread with sharp, tangy mustard, topped with smoky provolone and mesquite turkey slices, and pan grilled until oozing. Simple, quick, available ingredients, so easy a tween or teen could do it, and most importantly….
To.
Die.
For.

World’s Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Serve with cherry tomatoes, baby carrots and apple slices.

2 slices cinnamon-raisin bread (Pepperidge Farm makes a nice loaf)
Dijon mustard
2 slices smoked provolone cheese
2 slices mesquite smoked turkey slices

Heat a small nonstick frying pan on the stove, on low. Spread bread with mustard, and top with cheese and turkey. Close sandwich.

Place in hot pan and stand there while cooking. Do not walk away, or you risk burned bread. Turn sandwich several times, using a non-metal spatula, until outside of bread is toasty and cheese inside is melted. Cooking time for sandwich will be 3-5 minutes, with frequent turning.

(Alternately, you may grill the sandwich in a George Foreman-type grill or a panini press.)

Eat immediately.

Makes 1 sandwich.

Note: This works perfectly well without spreading any butter or oil on the outside of the bread slices. Try it!

Carol,
Why thank you! Doable and yummy is EXACTLY what I try to do! And addictive. I hope you need a 12-step program to recover from my recipes, in fact!
