If the question is what should you bring to the office or the party for Halloween, the answer is Halloween Deviled Spider Eggs!
Deviled eggs always disappear first from the appetizer plate, and this decorated version just makes people laugh. Or else it gives them a creepy shiver, which is also worth a chuckle.
Amusement with your food is always a good thing.
Directions are simple
1. Make your favorite deviled eggs. Here’s a quick tutorial on the easiest, best way to hard cook an egg.
2. Decorate with olives to resemble spiders!
3. Voila!
A couple of hints on how to do the spiders
1. You will need 1 whole pitted black olive per egg. You can use a regular (boring) black olive, or a more interesting Kalamata olive. Buy them pitted, because if you try to pit them yourself, you will mangle the olive, and for this recipe, you need pretty darn nice looking olives. (Second thought: Use the regular olives for a kid platter, and Kalamata olives for an adult platter. Everyone’s happy.)
2. Cut the olive in half lengthwise. Place half on the egg as the spider body.
3. Cut the remaining half into 2 vertical pieces. Cut each piece into 4 vertical slices, so you will have 8 legs. Spiders have 8 legs. If you cut each piece into 3 pieces instead of 4, you will have a 6-legged insect, but it won’t be an arachnid. So cut 8 legs and quit arguing with me.
4. Poke legs into the egg filling to adhere them. You don’t want any legs falling off (see #3 above).
5. Voila! Spider Eggs are served!
6. Stand around smugly as everyone murmers about how clever you are.

What a cool idea and love how easy it is!
They look delicious however the grammar sucks. Why does no one know the difference between TAKE and BRING?
…what should you bring to the office or the party for Halloween, the answer is Halloween Deviled Spider Eggs! It should read …what should you TAKE to the office or party…
Hi Facebook Mike,
I’m sorry you think my grammar sucks. I think either word is appropriate in this case. It depends on the point of view you are writing from, and here’s why.
According to Grammar Girl, “Whether you use “bring” or “take” generally depends on your point of reference for the action. You ask people to bring things to the place you are, and you take things to the place you are going. Generally, you bring things here and take things there. But the simple rules fall apart when you consider an event in the future where nobody has arrived yet. Do you bring rum cake to the school bazaar or do you take rum cake to the school bazaar? It simply depends on where you want to place the emphasis of the sentence—which perspective you want to adopt. If you want to focus on the school and write from the perspective of the bazaar, you bring the cake to the bazaar. If you want to focus on your kitchen and write from the perspective of home, then you take the cake to the bazaar (which puts the focus on taking it away from your home).”
I can see your point in wanting the word “take,” but I was focused on a future potluck at work, from a work perspective, and bringing items to a potluck at work. But one can argue this one either way!
Thanks for making me think!

Thanks for the idea! I did a few trays for a Halloween party. I made sure to cut up the olives beforehand so that the eggs weren’t sitting out forever.

Hi!
I’ve included these at the lead item in our halloween food roundup on Foodwhirl. Thanks for sharing! Also, I used to make those witches fingers every halloween – they are great! But try using whole blanched almonds instead of the almond slivers for the nails (you’ll have to press in while still uncooked) — it’s an even creepier effect because they look more like real witches nails!
