Food Bloggers L.A. Celebrate Pumpkin!

Despite the fact that we still have many 80- and some 90-degree October days in Los Angeles, members of the Food Bloggers Los Angeles group  succumbed to the lure of the seasonal pumpkin, just like the rest of the country.

We can’t get enough of it. Luckily, it’s good for you.

Food Bloggers L.A. Celebrate Pumpkin during October [1]Join us as we take you through our pumpkin dishes, from soup to nuts, and everything in between.

Starters and Salad

Mashed Potato Pumpkin Pancakes [2]Erika Kerekes from In Erika’s Kitchen [3] waltzed in with the most wonderful smelling Mashed Potato Pumpkin Pancakes [4]. (“Not latkes!” she intoned.) Yum was all we said.

Romaine and Green Apple Salad with Creamy Pumpkin Dressing [5]Patti Londre of Worth the Whisk [6] brought a Romaine and Green Apple Salad with Creamy Pumpkin Dressing [7], pouring the dressing it front of us with a flourish. Well done!

Pumpkin Hummus with Spiced Baked Whole Wheat Pita Chips [8]Judy Weintraub of BumbleBerry Breeze [9] brought Pumpkin Hummus with Spiced Baked Whole Wheat Pita Chips [10]. I figured if I ate enough of those, it would make up for all the desserts. Right?

Challah with Pumpkin Cheese Spread [11]Rashmi Nigam of Yum Kid [12], who was our host (thank you!), whipped up a Challah with Pumpkin Cheese Spread just as we were arriving.

Pumpkin Crostini [13]Dana Shrager of Foodie Goes Healthy [14] brought Pumpkin Crostini.

Soups

Roasted Pumpkin Cumin Soup [15]Newbie Kelli Abrahamian of I Had a Delicious Time [16] brought a perfectly spiced Roasted Pumpkin Cumin Soup. Welcome to L.A.!

Pumpkin Soup with Chipotle Cream [17]Susan Silverberg of The Home Artist [18] also brought soup – Pumpkin Soup with Chipotle Cream, and served it in the cutest little tureens.

Desserts

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies from Shockinglydelicious.com [19]I (Shockingly Delicious [20]), brought Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies [21] from a 1960s heirloom recipe.

Brownies with Pumpkin Ganache and Chocolate Ganache Swirl [22]Neha Mathur from Much More Than a Homemaker [23] brought Brownies with Pumpkin Ganache and Chocolate Ganache Swirl.

Pumpkin Pie Spiced Caramel Lady Apples with Toasted Pepitas [24]Nancy Eisman of Adventures with Nancy Rose [25] brought Pumpkin Pie Spiced Caramel Lady Apples with Toasted Pepitas [26]. These tiny apples were the perfect size dessert. (And the sticks are chopsticks!)

Pumpkin Mousse with Toffee Crunch and Cran-Raspberry Sauce [27]Cathy Arkle of She Paused for Thought [28] brought Pumpkin Mousse with Toffee Crunch and Cran-Raspberry Sauce [29]. I wanted two. I smacked my own hand.

Vintage Roasted Pumpkin Spice Cake [30]Leslie Macchiarella of Bake This Cake [31] made a Vintage Roasted Pumpkin Spice Cake [32] in the coolest cake pan.

Pumpkin Apple Raisin Muffins [33]Patricia Rose of Fresh Food in a Flash [34] graced the table with Pumpkin Apple Raisin Muffins. They would be great as a breakfast, snack or even with soup.

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Dip with Gingersnaps [35]Ellen Rosentreter of Golden Hour Glass [36] brought a sweet Pumpkin Cream Cheese Dip with Gingersnaps [37]. I couldn’t stay away.

Artichoke Spread [38]She also brought a non-pumpkin Artichoke Spread, a welcome respite from all the orange.

Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake from Christina's Cucina [39]And last, but certainly not least, Christina Conte of Christina’s Cucina [40] brought a wonderful Pumpkin Cheesecake with Chocolate that didn’t quite set up before she arrived. So she popped it into the freezer during our meeting and voila, we cut it and enjoyed it at the end! Bloggers never let a little bump in the road get between them and their food.
