This is a sponsored postWhat is more fun than a Cookie Football? Absolutely nothing, and if you bring this to game day, you’ll be a hero.

As Super Bowl gets near, more and more of my mind is overtaken by the game.

No, not downs and drop kicks, but rather delicious desserts. Not comebacks and chip shots, but cookies. Not wildcats and wishbones, but wafers. Not sacks, snaps, and safeties, but sweets.

DIY Cookie Football on ShockinglyDelicious.comAnd so, my contribution to game-day grub is going to be this Cookie Football. That’s right, we’re cookie-fying the icon of the most famous game on the planet.

How to Make a Cookie Football on ShockinglyDelicious.comAnd if you bring this dessert to game day, you’ll be the MVP. Pinkie swear…I promise.

For this recipe, I’m using Loacker Wafers, which are high-quality crispy wafers with various fillings. They’re known as “The Keebler of Italy,” for their light, airy, crispy wafer cookies that are perfect with a cup o’ tea or as a wonderful snack or dessert. They’re indulgent, but with all-natural, better-for-you ingredients sourced from Italy — the finest Italian hazelnuts, real “Bourbon” vanilla pods, aromatic cocoa and the finest quality milk. (Stay tuned after the recipe for your chance to win a gift box of these sweets!)

Wafer cookies have a waffled texture that kind of speaks to me when I think pigskin.

Let’s get started, shall we?

I started with all the Loacker wafers I could find in the house. That was a LOT, granted, because the Loaker folks sent me a variety to use for this recipe.

Loacker wafer cookies for Cookie Football on ShockinglyDelicious.comFor today’s recipes, I am using

  • Loacker Cocoa & Milk wafer cookies
  • Loacker Gran Pasticceria Dark-Hazelnut biscuits
  • Loacker Gran Pasticceria Creme Noisette biscuits
  • Loacker Cremkakao milk chocolate with cocoa cream filling and crispy wafers
  • Loacker Quadratini Vanilla bite-size wafer cookies
  • Loacker Quadratini Chocolate bite-sized wafer cookies

Make your Football Shape for the Cookie Football on ShockinglyDelicious.comSo I chose the brownest ones (football brown!) and began building my shape on my largest platter.

Cut the Loacker wafers to fit the Cookie Football shape on ShockinglyDelicious.comI had to cut some to make the curve. Little pieces that break off or don’t quite fit are the creator’s treat.

Loacker Chocolate Wafers make a Cookie Football on ShockinglyDelicious.comYou could use any technique you like, but I like to stand some on their side to show the edge and lay some flat to show the top. Suit yourself.

Chocolate Covered Loacker Wafers for the Cookie Football on ShockinglyDelicious.comIn addition to the wafer cookies, I used some of the Loacker chocolates. I may have eaten some while building this football. Just the little cut-off corners though.

Cookie Football

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

What is more fun than a football made out of cookies for game day? Absolutely nothing, and if you bring this Cookie Football to the watching party, you'll be MVP of the room.

Ingredients

  • Loacker Cocoa & Milk wafer cookies
  • Loacker Gran Pasticceria Dark-Hazelnut biscuits
  • Loacker Gran Pasticceria Creme Noisette biscuits
  • Loacker Cremkakao milk chocolate with cocoa cream filling and crispy wafers
  • Loacker Quadratini Vanilla bite-size wafer cookies
  • Loacker Quadratini Chocolate bite-sized wafer cookies

Directions

  1. Get out your largest platter.
  2. Decide which cookies will define the outside of your shape. I used the Cocoa & Milk variety for the outline. Add in the Quadratini Vanilla flavor for the white laces. You place them early so you know where the laces will be and you can build around them.
  3. Arrange cookies and chocolates inside the football shape, using a small sharp knife to cut or trim, especially where the ball rounds. I like to place like cookies in a stripe or in a grouping, so it makes sense to people what it is. You may do it any way you like and to suit your own creative impulses.
  4. Touchdown!
  5. Serves 8-20, depending on the size of the platter and how high you pile the cookies.

I would absolutely love this. I live in Philadelphia but very much dislike the eagles (I’m a Giants fan), so at least I can eat my feelings away at my super bowl party.

You made me laugh! Of course, cookies are the PERFECT way to eat your feelings at the Super Bowl!
